Outline

Kyoto Prefectural Agriculture,Forestry and Fisheries Technology Center Biotechnology Research Department endeavors to contribute to promoting agriculture in Kyoto Prefecture by improving Kyoto specialties, such as Kyo vegetables, through the latest biotechnology, combining for multiple effects the achievements to basic research by the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences of Kyoto Prefectural University and applied research by the Department of Forestry and Fisheries.

Research Policies

  1. The Institute’s Applied Research Division, managed by Prefectural Government, and Basic Research Disision, managed by Kyoto Prefectural University, shall work in collaboration to carry out interdisciplinary research in useful genes of agricultural produce and biotechnology for advanced and highly practical research and development.
  2. Taking advantage of its location in Kansai Science City, the Institute shall actively seek collaboration with private, public and national research organization and other universities for efficient research and development.
  3. The Institute shall make its facilities available to the prefectural general public to serve as a place of continued education in agriculture and biotechnology, and support research activities by farmers, agricultural organizations, researchers, private corporations and the like.

Research Objectives
